We plan to post news about our
swimmer's achievements on this page. If you know of a swimmer who should be "In
the Spotlight", please email the webmaster with the details. We would like to
tell our membership how great we think our swimmers are and what they are
accomplishing, both in
and out of the water.
| Jacob Van
Hemelryck recently became the first wheelchair athlete to
compete in the Idaho State High School Track & Field Championships. He
competed in the 800 meters with two athletes from Spokane, WA. Jacob was
interviewed by KTVB prior to the race. Follow this link to see the

July, Jacob will also be competing in the Can-Am Swimming Championships
in Victoria, British Columbia. Five days later he is off to New Jersey
to compete in the National Junior Disability Championships (NJDC). Jacob
was also selected as a member of Team USA to compete in the
International Wheelchair & Amputee Sports Federation's World Games which
will be held at the same time and venues as the NJDC. Jacob will
be competing in swimming, track, field, and weight lifting. |

Sports section about Dr. Ellen Reynolds. Ellen is the mother of
Boise Y Swimmers, Bryn and Rees Launer. Dr. Reynolds recently
competed at YMCA Masters Nationals and placed first in 5 events in her

| Daryl Vogel
will be leaving the team and embarking on a 2-1/2 year bicycle trip with
his family. The Vogels will begin their journey in Prudhoe Bay,
Alaska and will take 30 months to bicycle 20,000 miles to Ushuaia,
Argentina. When they complete their trip, Daryl and his brother
Davy will become Guinness World Record holders for the youngest people
to cycle the Pan American Highway. To follow their journey and

In the Thursday, February 28th, Idaho Statesman there is
an insert entitled "Womens History
(Her-story) Month 2008". The insert contains articles about the 2008
honorees as selected by the BSU Women's Center. Swim Team Parent
Susan Smith was selected as
an honoree this year. Please take the time to read this article
about one of the swim team's most dedicated volunteers.
We are so fortunate her children decided to take
up swimming!
