Fundraising:

 The monthly fees do not cover all the Team’s expenses in providing a quality program.  We have three major fundraisers each year and the success of the Team is dependent upon them.  In January, the Team kicks off each new year with the Aquathon.  We usually host three major meets a year and several 2-3 hour Time Achievement Meets.  Our major meets include Spring Fling LC Swim Meet in May and in November, the Thanksgiving Meet.   It is a Team expectation that swimmers and parents support these vital fundraisers.

 The Aquathon:

·        The Team’s major yearly fundraiser contributes approximately one third of the monies to the Team’s annual budget. 

 ·        Everyone’s participation, swimmers and parents, ensures a successful and quality Swim Team experience with a reasonable program fee structure.  Simply put, without Aquathon, either the program fees increase dramatically or the team becomes more of a recreational team without things we now enjoy, including professional coaching, coaches at away swim meets, travel funds for YMCA Nationals, purchasing and maintaining necessary equipment, and to provide funding for financial assistance.

 ·        Although Aquathon participation is voluntary, every Team member and family is asked to take part in this important Team activity.  Swimmers who do not do Aquathon at their suggested level may be charged coaching fees for away meets and may not received subsidies for the team banquet or retreat.

 ·        From the local neighborhoods, swimmers obtain pledges for swimming a certain number of lengths (maximum of 200 in 2 hours).   Families can make a cash contribution in lieu of participation in Aquathon.

 ·        Suggested guidelines for Aquathon monetary goals are as follows:

8 & Under Swimmers:

$100.00

 

1st Year (Over 8) Swimmers

$150.00

 

2nd Year Swimmers:

$200.00

 

3rd Year Swimmers:

$300.00

 

Gold Swimmers:

$300.00

Minimum plus a leadership role in Aquathon activities.

·        Several fun activities are core to the Aquathon and Team gear and prizes are available for various levels of participation.  This is the only way swimmers receive Team bags, jackets, parkas and other accessories.

 ·        The Aquathon’s success is directly related to the involvement of the parent volunteers.   Contact the Aquathon Chairperson and make a difference by helping!
